Browsing MacUpdate, I see that Stuffit Expander is listed in the weekly popular downloads…
So that must mean that most users don’t know that there are other options… (.sit files have always been the problem. They are everywhere. That’s why we have to look elsewhere. BTW, why doesn’t Mac handle it by default? )

I know busy people who don’t bother about their computer just download Suffit Expander by habit. These people are very busy and don’t have time to look around.

So I’ll put up a clear image message:

Stuffit Expander crossedarrowThe unarchiver

‘Compressed’ explanation:

The Unarchiver supports Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, Rar, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt and many other more or less obscure formats and is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper ( the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X)

Compatible with 10.3 Panther -10.5 Leopard. It’s quick, does what it mentionnes and OPEN SOURCE !

Tip: If you also install Xsee multiple format supported image viewer, you can browse inside archives with it !

Don’t believe me? See what other say.
